Parents, This is the announcement to students and the BYCSD form they need to bring on October 18th signed by parent, granting them permission to bring their camera to school. Bring Your Camera to School Day! is next Thursday, October 18th. See details for this event on the blue form passed out during homeroom by the photography club members. The extras are located on the metal wall mount in the main lobby. Students MUST bring the blue form signed by a parent on the day of... October 18th in order to participate. All faculty members retain right to take any camera that is a disruption to learning. So be sure you ask permission before snapping off your flash.
Mr. Roaden approved cameras, NOT camera phones, so do not expect to get a pass to take photos with your camera phone.
All of this is in an effort to get more pictures for the YEARBOOK. Please bring in a CD of the photos taken on Bring Your Camera to School Day! and place it in the box by the main office by the following Thursday, October 25th.
- PHOTO TIP #1 - Check your background. Make sure you have a simple background that compliments your subject.
- Tip #2 - Try different angles. Either up looking down or down looking up. OR get on the same level as your subject. If they are sitting or eating—sit down and be on the same level.
- Tip #3 - Your flash will only travel four to five feet. Be sure your subject is within the four feet range while using flash.
- Tip #4 - Move in close. Fill the viewfinder with your subject. Try to avoid having “space” in your shot.
- Tip #5 - Take some vertical pictures. Not all horizontal.
- Tip #6 - Lock the focus. Most cameras have the capability to lock in a focus if you click the button part way. This will allow you to focus on your subject and then move them off center.
- Tip #7 - Move it from the middle. Place your subject off center to fill the shot with background or bring more interesting perspective.
- Tip #8 - Watch the light. Use natural light as much as possible and watch out for harsh shadows.
- Tip #9 - Be a picture director. Move your subject or subjects into a more interesting position. Objects that distract from the subject may be removed.
