The CRCT is designed to measure the knowledge and skills taught in Georgia classrooms and assess how well students have learned a specific curriculum. We would like to remind you that 8th grade students must pass the Reading and Math portions of the CRCT in order to be promoted to the 9th grade. Eighth grade students who do not meet expectations in one or both of these sections must attend a summer remediation program and retake the test(s) or they will be retained in the 8th grade.
Your support and encouragement play an important role in student success. The following are recommendations to help your child during the week of testing:
Ø Make sure your child is present at school and on time each day. Students do much better when they are tested with their class rather than being tested apart from their peers in make up sessions. Students who are tardy will not be allowed to disrupt the test administration.
Ø Please do not check out your child from school during the testing period. Unless there is an emergency, we will not disrupt classes that are testing.
Ø Please do not schedule orthodontist, dental, and other appointments during testing dates and times.
Ø Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast each morning.
Ø Encourage your child to leave his/her cell phone at home during the week of testing.
Ø Make sure your child has two #2 wood pencils for testing.
Score reports will be sent home with explanatory information as to how to read and interpret your child’s scores when they become available. Thank you for your support and interest in helping your child do his/her best on this test.
